Handling of complaints and appeals

As an author of a rejected scientific manuscript, you may appeal the decision if you believe the decision is wrong. If there are multiple authors, we ask that the complaint be communicated via the corresponding author.

An appeal must be based on objections from the editor or peer reviewers, either by addressing them, clarifying misunderstandings or by indicating how the manuscript can be revised to address the objections.

Please note that manuscripts may be rejected if they are considered to fall outside the aims and scope of Journal of the Norwegian Psychological Association. Furthermore, manuscripts must be perceived as relevant to or suited our target group. Rejections based on such editorial assessments will usually not be reversed upon appeal.

Appeals against rejections of scientific manuscripts are handled by the editor-in-chief. Journal of the Norwegian Psychological Association may decide to uphold the rejection, consider revision or send the manuscript for additional peer review. Please note that consideration of revision following an appeal does not guarantee that the manuscript will be accepted for publication. If the rejection is upheld, the decision is final, and any new appeal will not be considered.

Complaints about the editorial staff's work on a scientific manuscript or complaints about a rejection of a scientific manuscript should be sent to redaksjonen@tidsskriftet.no with a copy to the editor-in-chief katharine@psykologtidsskriftet.no. Write ‘Complaint concerning [manuscript number]’ in the subject line. The deadline for submitting a complaint is within two months of the manuscript being rejected.

If the person who made the complaint is not satisfied after the matter has been formally closed, the complaint may be forwarded to the editorial board.

Other complaints

Complaints related to published content or editorial procedures should be sent to redaksjonen@tidsskriftet.no with a copy to the editor-in-chief katharine@psykologtidsskriftet.no.
