Conflicts of interest

Journal of the Norwegian Psychological Association is committed to ensuring transparency when publishing academic work. Authors must therefore disclose various relevant relationships that may constitute conflicts of interest. This is done in the conflict of interest form that is submitted along with the manuscript.

Some matters are easy to disclose, such as financial interests, employment relationships, supervisory relationships, external funding and receipt of grants. Other matters, such as personal relationships and academic disagreements, constitute less obvious conflicts of interest. What constitutes an actual conflict of interest will depend on the context and interpretation. Many psychologists have extensive professional networks. An acquaintance – even a close acquaintance – does not necessarily constitute a conflict of interest in connection with submitting an article for publication. It is not possible to establish guidelines that adequately cover every author or every project.

However, it is important that you as an author contribute to transparency and complete the conflict of interest form when submitting your manuscript.

Journal of the Norwegian Psychological Association follows the guidelines issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) if questions are raised about conflicts of interest, regardless of whether such questions are raised before or after publication.

It is extremely important that any financial support and funding sources are accounted for correctly and accurately.

A completed conflict of interest form must be submitted by all the authors before the editorial staff can start working on a manuscript.
